The United Kingdom Minimum Wage Rates:..

2014 from 1 October – £ 6.50 per hour (£ 247.00 per 38 hour week)

£ 5.13 18-20 year olds
£ 3.79 16-17 year olds
£ 2.73 apprentices under 19 or those in their first year

2013 from 1 October – £ 6.31 per hour (£ 239.78 per 38 hour week)

Hourly Minimum Rates
£ 6.31 Adult aged 21 and over
£ 5.03 18-20 year olds (Youth Development Rate)
£ 3.72 16-17 year olds
£ 2.68 apprentices under 19 or those in their first year

2012 from 1 October – £ 6.19 per hour (£ 235.22 per 38 hour week)

£ 6.19 Adult aged 21 and over
£ 4.98 18-20 year olds
£ 3.68 16-17 year olds
£ 2.65 apprentices under 19 or those in their first year

2011 from 1 October – £ 6.08 per hour (£ 231.04 per 38 hour week)

£ 3.68 16-17 year olds

2010 from 1 October – £ 5.93 per hour (£ 225.34 per 38 hour week)

£ 3.64 16-17 year olds

2009 from 1 October – £ 5.80 per hour (£ 220.40 per 38 hour week)

£ 4.83 18-20 year olds
£ 3.57 16-17 year olds

In private sector organisations, nearly 6% of jobs are minimum wage ones, but only 1% of jobs in the public sector organisations are.

Nearly 10% of jobs in companies with under 10 employees are paid at the minimum wage compared with around 3% in the 250 plus employee sector.
