The Australian Tax Office released the following updated data in May 2013
Latest records show that there are 1,764,924 property investors in Australia, or 12.1% of all tax lodgements include an investment property.

For the 2010–11 income year
33% of individual property investors are cash positive while 67.0% reported a taxable loss (net rental income less than zero) from their rental property.
