Overtime Wage rates in Australia


Overtime in Australia..

All time worked in excess of an average of 38 hours per week by a full-time employee or in excess of the agreed number of hours per week by a part-time employee is classed as overtime.

Normal Overtime must be paid at the following rates:

150% of the relevant minimum wage for the first three hours
200% of the relevant minimum wage after three hours.

Hours Worked  before 7.00 am or after 7.00 pm Monday to Friday

Full and Part Time workers: 120% of the relevant minimum wage
Casual workers: 145% of the relevant minimum wage

Saturday:

Full and Part Time workers: 120% of the relevant minimum wage
Casual workers: 145% of the relevant minimum wage

Sundays:

All work performed by employees on a Sunday, which is not overtime, must be paid at:

Full and Part Time workers: 155% of the relevant minimum wage
Casual workers: 175% of the relevant minimum wage

Public Holidays

All work performed by an employee on a public holiday is to be paid at the rate of 250% of the relevant minimum wage.

In the case of part-time employees, the agreed number of hours means the number of hours agreed in writing either at the commencement of employment or subsequently.
