COVID-19 Deaths per Million Population.


As at the end of August 2020, there are 9 countries that have a higher COVID-19 death rate than the United States of America.

The ten countries with the highest death rate per million population are:

  1. San Marino: 1,237 deaths per million population.
  2. Peru: 856 deaths per million population.
  3. Belgium: 852 deaths per million population.
  4. Andorra: 686 deaths per million population.
  5. Spain: 620 deaths per million population.
  6. UK: 610 deaths per million population.
  7. Italy: 587 deaths per million population.
  8. Chile: 578 deaths per million population.
  9. Sweden: 576 deaths per million population.
  10. USA: 558 deaths per million population.

 

The United States, having one of the largest populations in the world, has varying levels of the COVID-19 coronavirus. This varies from 64 deaths per million to 1,804 deaths per million, on mainland USA.

California has the most cases in the USA with 693,072 cases from a population of 39,512,223.
But this state has only 321 deaths per million, which is less than the US average.

New Jersey has the highest death rate with 1,804 deaths per million.

Wyoming has the lowest mainland death rate with only 64 deaths per million.

Vermont has the lowest number of cases on mainland USA, with 1,586 cases from a population of about 625,000.
