Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy Assassination co-incidences

Today I saw a post on the Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy assassination co-incidences, and decided to check to see how accurate they are.  My findings are in red.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. Nov 6th 1860. First inaugural address March 4, 1861
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Nov 8th 1960. Sworn in on January 20, 1961

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.

Abraham Lincoln’s son, Willie, died in 1862 during his White House tenure.
John F Kenedy’s son, Patrick, died in 1963 during his White House tenure.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy. Unable to confirm, but Lincoln had two secretaries, named: John J. Nicolay and John M. Hay
Kennedy’s Secretary was named Lincoln. Evelyn Lincoln

Both were assassinated by Southerners. John Wilkes Booth was born in Bel Air, Maryland (part of the Old South) and Lee Harvey Oswald was born in New Orleans, Louisiana (The Deep South)

Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Born: December 29, 1808
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. Born: August 27, 1908

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. John Wilkes Booth was born May 10, 1838
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Lee Harvey Oswald was born October 18, 1939

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named “Ford.”
Kennedy was shot in a car called “Lincoln” made by “Ford.”

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.  Assassinated ??  Not sure that Booth was assassinated, although the officer that shot him, Sergeant Boston Corbett, had been recommended for punishment for disobeying the orders to take Booth alive.

And here’s the “kicker”:

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe, died on August 5, 1962.  Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Therefore, no possibility of this being correct.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse…
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater…

Well, that was that, from what I saw on the post earlier…

However, I also found these:

1856 Republican National Convention. Abraham Lincoln came 2nd in the Vice Presidential Ballots
1956 Republican National Convention. John F. Kennedy came 2nd in the Vice Presidential Ballots

Lincoln’s defeated opponent, Stephen Douglas, was BORN IN 1813. April 23rd.
Kennedy’s defeated opponent, Richard Nixon. was BORN IN 1913. January 9th.

Abraham Lincoln declared war on April 12, 1861. “Civil War”
John Kennedy ordered an invasion of Cuba on April 17, 1961. “Bay of Pigs Invasion”

In 1861 Abraham Lincoln ordered a BLOCKADE of Confederate ports.
In 1962 John F. Kennedy ordered a BLOCKADE of Cuba.

Abraham Lincolns wife, “Mary Ann Lincoln”, died on July 16, 1882
John F. Kennedy’s son, “John F. Kennedy, Jr.” died in a plane crash on July 16, 1999
