The decision to use a single L or two L’s, in some words must be very confusing to many people learning the English language, and even more so when they get further confused by the English versus the American versions.
Examples to confuse you:
An English counsellor might find an American quarrelling with them about travelling
or
An American counselor might find the English quarreling with them about traveling
That one seems easy: two L’s for the English
But this one?
An English counsellor might find an American enroling and paying by instalment
An American counselor might find the British enrolling and paying by installment
