How do you really know whether a website you visit can be trusted?

WoTAn excerpt from the Web Of  Trust [WOT]

Surfing the web safely can be a tricky business. How do you really know whether a website you visit can be trusted? Antivirus software might keep you covered when it comes to viruses and malware, but dangers such as scams, spam and untrustworthy online stores are becoming more widespread. The most effective way to spot these additional online threats is through millions of human eyes, in other words crowdsourcing.

Do you use the WOT ?

I’ve been using it for a while now, and I like it.  It warns me of dangerous websites, some of which I can tell they are right, but at times an odd one gets a warning sign, and I wonder how accurate it is, especially the government one the other day 😀

WoT-3

I will give this a personal recommendation.  It is worth installing on your toolbar. You only really notice it when you need to.

I hadn’t even noticed it for some time, other than the odd warning signs, but today I clicked on the green circle while on my own site, ABCDiamond.com, and was very pleased with the result.

I just had to share this with everyone. Trust me, I WAS pleased.

For people reading this on a mobile phone, the numbers are not very clear, but they do NOT start with a 5…  They are: 93, 98, 94 and99.  Almost Perfect 😉
