Citizenship of the UK by Birth..
You will be a British Citizen by Birth, if you were born in the United Kingdom on or after 1 January 1983, and your mother or father was either:
- A British citizen when you were born
- Had the right of abode in the UK
- Had indefinite leave to remain in the UK
- Had permanent residence in the UK as a European Economic Area (EEA) national
If you are a Commonwealth citizen, or a Foreign national, you do not automatically get UK citizenship just because the child was born in the UK, or because you live in the UK.
