Boris Johnson and the News Industry.

Boris Johnson began work as a graduate trainee at The Times in late 1987.

Johnson later secured employment at The Daily Telegraph.

In the late 1990’s Johnson was given a regular column in The Spectator, (The Daily Telegraph’s sister publication).

In 1999 Boris Johnson became the editor of ‘The Spectator’, his job was effectively to sell news by creating stories that people read.

He grew the audience by about 10%, and made the paper profitable for the first time.
