The War with Afghanistan officially ran from 7th October 2001 to 28th December 2014
As at October 18th, 2016, the US casualty figures according to iCasualties.org, were:
- 2,386 U.S. military deaths in the War in Afghanistan.
- 1,834 U.S. military deaths were the result of hostile action.
- 20,049 American service members have also been wounded in action during the war.
- The US suffered 67.8% of all Coalition Fatalities during the period below, while the British suffered 12.9%.
