After six weeks in the Philippines, and experiencing various internet speeds, at hotels in the Albay, Manila, Palawan and Cebu areas, I now wish I had recorded these speed results at each hotel, so I could compare to my current speed.
I recently set up a Globe WiFi connection on my smart phone at a cost of 999 pesos for the month, unlimited data, and my speed result today is:
Not as good as my wired connection at home, which is between 8 and 12 Mb/s, but 3.58 Mb/s for a wireless connection in the Cebu area is not too bad. And definitely better than most hotels I have stayed in recently.
The result does state the server is in Manila, which is just over 1,000 kms away from me. I assume that is the Globe central area for its WiFi transmissions.
