Beef with Port Casserole


Beef – 500g,  cubed
Flour – 1 Tablespoon
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil
Onions – 2 large, finely sliced
Garlic – 1 Teaspoon, crushed
Port – 200ml
Beef Stock – 1 Litre


Season the meat with salt and pepper, sprinkle with flour, and then sear the meat in a heavy pan.
Remove the meat from the pan, and use this pan to cook the onions in a little olive oil, cooking until they are soft and slightly browning, and then add the garlic, the previously seared beef and the port.
Simmer this for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.

Transfer all the pan contents to a casserole dish, suitable for the oven, then add the beef stock.
Mix well, cover and cook for 2 hours at 200 Celsius.

Remove from the oven and serve with mashed potatoes.
