Hamas has Blamed US for Gaza war.
On 20 November 2024, Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that started the Gaza-Israel war by invading Israel, has accused the United States on Wednesday of being “directly responsible” for Israel’s “genocidal war” in Gaza after it vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.
The Israeli Prime Minister has previously said that Israel will continue fighting until all the hostages are released.
Hamas had refused to arrange this release, and therefore it is Hamas hat is directly responsible for the continuation of this war.
At a news conference on 2 September 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Hamas has imported arms into the territory since Israel’s withdrawal in 2005.
He also stated “Israel would continue until its hostages were returned“.
Israel has put a proposal on the table that would end fighting in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the immediate release of all hostages held in Gaza.
But Hamas politburo member Ghazi Hamad, swiftly rejected the offer.
Hamas appears to prefer this war, rather than release the hostages.
Lieutenant General Halevi said: “We will not stop until we capture all the terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre and bring all the hostages home.”
If Hamas released these hostages, the war could soon end.

The United States has vetoed a resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) demanding an “immediate, unconditional and permanent” ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as Israel’s bombardment of the Palestinian territory continues.
Robert Wood, the deputy US envoy to the UN, said: “We made clear throughout negotiations that we could not support an unconditional ceasefire that failed to release the hostages.”
On 7 October 2023, as part of the Hamas-led attack on Israel at the beginning of the Israel–Hamas war, Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups abducted 251 people from Israel to the Gaza Strip, including children, women, and elderly people.
This attack, by about around 6,000 Palestinians, also killed about 1,200 mainly Israeli civilians, including children that were murdered during the invasion.
