Unlock a car with your mobile cell phone and car remote control

Is this true:

You can unlock a car with your cell phone and a spare remote key.

Answer:

It appears this is NOT true, as mobile phones and car remotes work on different radio frequencies, therefore the phone will not transmit exactly the same  tone.

For anyone that is still curious though, it is easy enough to try it yourself.
