Video files downloaded as avi files need to be converted to a DVD format before they can be played on most DVD players linked up to a TV set.
To play on a computer, you can leave them as avi files, but that isn’t always convenient.
Free avi to DVD converters are a useful tool to get hold off, so far I had only tried “FreeDVD creator v2″, which seems to do a good job at converting, but I found it does take some time to complete.
I have also just tried AVS Video Converter 6 which is well worth looking at. I have just used the free trial version, and found it very easy to use. This version does show a watermark in the centre of the screen for a portion of the time, off and on maybe for about 10% of total playing time, but the ease of use, and output quality does make you consider buying it.
The following are in my list to try out:
- AutoGk
- FairUse Wizard
- XviD4PSP
- Avi2Dvd
VSO Softwares “ConvertXtoDVD video converter” appears to be good, but at a cost of about US$60, a bit expensive for the very occasional user.
