Best Food for Heartburn – Reflux – GORD

I was just sitting here eating some Blackcurrant fruit gums, and wondered how that would affect my Heartburn, as it has been pretty bad for the last few weeks.

Blackcurrant tea is said to stimulates digestion, and help to reduce heartburn, so I am hoping that these gums will do the same. They contain 30% Blackcurrant juice, so may be good.

High protein plant foods such as Beans and Lentils are some of the foods that are supposed to aid in reducing Heartburn. maybe I should change my diet totally. Beans, Lentils and Blackcurrant tea… That makes me wonder about the value of Life…. and what will I do with all that chocolate that I got for Christmas.

Things that are bad for Heartburn – Reflux sufferers:

  • Chocolate
  • Alcohol
  • Tomatoes
  • Caffeine
  • Deep fried foods

So my previous diet starting the day with coffee, and having cheese and tomato sandwiches for lunch, with chocolate snacks in between, and then fish and chips for Dinner…

Not exactly good choices for this condition.

Eating habits also play a great part in avoiding reflux.

  • Eat slower
  • Chew more
  • 6 small meals a day instead of 3 normal ones

These are examples that are suggested, and they appear to work, from my limited testing.

The perfect solution though was to stop eating at 1pm, no more food after that, other than clear soup. That reminds me, I am hungry… a chicken broth coming up 🙂
