2010 Penalties for speeding in ACT
- Less than 15 km/h over the limit: $157 + one point.
- 15 to 30 km/h over the limit: $245 + three points.
- 31 to 45 km/h over the limit: $664 + four points.
- More than 45 km/h over the limit: $1,811 + six points
Demerit Points
Licence Suspension is automatic once you reach 12 points in 3 years, but the suspension period varies depending on the total points, ie:
- 12 to 15 points = 3 months Licence Suspension
- 16 to 19 points = 4 months Licence Suspension
- 20 or more = 5 months Licence Suspension

- Less than 10 km/h over the limit: $84 + one point.
- 11 to 20 km/h over the limit: $197 + three points.
- 21 to 30 km/h over the limit: $338 + four points.
- 31 to 45 km/h over the limit: $647 + five points and three months suspension.
- More than 45 km/h over the limit: $1,744 + six points and six months suspension.
